How Hopper Works
Hopper collects ten five to fifteen billion airfare price quotes every day and has built a huge historical archive of several trillion prices from over the past several years.
Hopper uses this data to predict future flight prices with 95% accuracy, up to six months in advance of departure, and will recommend if a user should "buy now" or "wait for a better price."
Rather than dealing with the hassles of comparison shopping for flights online, Hopper monitors prices 24/7 and notifies users the instant they should buy or if prices are expected to rise.
Since flight deals can be time sensitive, the app offers the fastest way to book a flight. It takes only a few taps to complete the process in the app.
Just like with airfare, Hopper uses big data to predict the future cost of accommodation. Hopper collects millions of hotel price quotes for over 500 hotels in New York every day, and has accumulated over a year's worth of data.
Hopper uses this data to make predictions with 95% recommendation accuracy up to six months in advance -- offering guidance around whether you should buy now or set up a watch and wait for a better price.
Hopper saves users an average of $34 a night on hotels, and up to $90 a night in the best case scenarios. Currently, our average trip watch is for 8 nights, which would mean a total savings of $272 on average or as much as $720.
Just like with flights, you can book your hotel room directly in the app -- it only takes a few taps and you're set.
