Houstonians looking to escape the scorching summer heat can now jet away to the Caribbean beaches of Belize at a 30% discount thanks to a new fare sale from United. Round-trip tickets from Houston’s George Bush Intercontinental Airport to Belize City – the main gateway to Belize – are now selling for as low as $507 on United, which is well below the average fare of $720 on the route and is also the lowest fare we’ve seen on the route in months.

The sale began at 4:30 p.m. on July 1 with a sharp decline in ticket prices on the route as the United sales team lowered prices. Fares have only gotten lower as the sale has gone on, with new price lows reached on July 2.

We can’t say exactly how long this fare sale will last, as flash fare sales are common as airlines seek to increase demand on routes and win airfare searches on online travel agency websites. As the fares are already the lowest we’ve seen in months, we would recommend that travelers interested in flying to Belize or the Caribbean book ASAP.

United is the only airline participating in this fare sale and it is also the only airline that offers direct flights between Houston and Belize. American Airlines offers connecting flights and also has a large market share, but it is not participating in this fare sale and its return tickets are selling for approximately $850.
