Fare sale details:
-Airlines participating in fare sale: US Airways, American, Delta and United
-Start of fare sale: June 24
-Fare sale length: TBD, but don't expect it to last longer than a week
-Airfare savings: 36% lower than the average price reported in our flight report on Philadelphia-Aruba
Philadelphians can get a jump-start on their fall vacation plans courtesy of a fare sale from Philadelphia to Aruba. Starting from 6 p.m. on June 24, American, US Airways, United and Delta have all slashed fares on the route by 36% from $700 return to approximately $450 return.
The sale closely resembles a fare sale seen on the route last week, when prices were also slashed from $700 to $450. That sale lasted for a whole week from June 10-18. The airlines’ yield management systems eventually increased the prices back to the $700 range, but yesterday the sales teams at the airlines decided to lower prices once more.
While we can’t say exactly how long the low fares will last, the sale ran for one week last time, so one week doesn’t seem out of the question. But with departure dates on sale that run the gamut from July to December, any travelers thinking of going to Aruba or who are looking for an exotic Caribbean getaway this year would be wise to book sooner than later.
While both American and US Airways offer direct flights from Philadelphia to Aruba, the seats on sale at the moment all include a layover in Miami. (Because of their recent merger, US Airways and American are effectively the same airline.) As for the other two airlines participating in this fare sale, Delta is offering flights to Aruba that connect in Atlanta and United is selling seats on Delta codeshare flights.
