BOSTON, MA - January 22, 2021 - Today, travel-booking app Hopper announced their NDC partnership with the passenger airlines of the Lufthansa Group, which include Austrian Airlines, Lufthansa, SWISS and Brussels Airlines, enabling access to their attractive NDC Smart Offers. Through this NDC (New Distribution Capability) based connection, Hopper customers will gain access to Lufthansa Group airlines’ branded fares, bundles, ancillary product offerings, and Continuous Pricing.

With today’s launch, Hopper becomes the only mobile-first leisure OTA in the United States to offer NDC capabilities, thus furthering its mission to empower travelers to make the best travel purchasing decisions. Hopper delivers a highly personalized experience for its customers through its conversational commerce model wherein Hopper’s algorithms evaluate the value that customers place on various trip and flight attributes, and generate personalized travel recommendations based on the customer’s profile.

Airlines who connect with Hopper via NDC can present consistent, personalized offers to customers who shop across Hopper and the airline’s digital channels.

In 2019, Hopper acquired GDX Travel, a Bogota-based travel company, which specializes in airline connectivity. That acquisition, along with today’s announcement, reinforces Hopper’s long-term commitment to NDC and ensures that Hopper customers have access to the full breadth of airline content.

“Lufthansa Group brings a wealth of experience in the airline connectivity space and we’re thrilled to have them on board as our first NDC partner,” says Dakota Smith, Chief Strategy Officer at Hopper. “Their expertise will allow us to further our commitment to our airline partners by best serving our shared customers through NDC.”

“We are excited to enter into this partnership with Hopper fostering modern airline retailing to the benefit of our customers,’’ said Frank Naeve, Vice President Sales, The Americas at Lufthansa Group. “We are committed to the development of a unique customer experience and are committed to shape the travel industry with distribution innovation.”
