For the first time in years, Americans are weighing their holiday travel plans. And for many, the holidays will be the first time traveling since the start of the pandemic. ‘Flexible Travel’ has become almost synonymous with travel itself - and according to Hopper’s recent Holiday Confidence Report, 80% of travelers said they would book a holiday flight if they knew they could change or cancel their plans without penalty. 

With this in mind, and just in time for booking holiday travel, today we are excited to introduce the ultimate holiday travel protection: four new flexible travel options to ease anxiety and offer the most peace-of-mind when booking as well as taking your future trip.

Refundable Booking (Flights, Hotels) - Cancel your flight or hotel for any reason. Offered on 90% of flights and hotels available in the app, Hopper’s new Refundable Booking option gives you the flexibility to cancel your trip and receive 100% of your booking value back to use toward a future flight or hotel with $0 re-booking penalties. If a future travel credit isn’t available, get the guaranteed cash coverage for the amount covered under your plan. Depending on the booking, travelers pay 5-15% ($22/passenger, on average) to make their booking refundable.

Flexible Dates (Flights) - Change the date or time of your flight for any reason up to 24 hours prior to departure. Hopper’s Flexible Booking option offers you a powerful way to make any ticket on any carrier flexible. If you want to change your flight, simply open the app to seamlessly change your flight and apply 100% of your ticket value to a new time, new airport, different dates, change fees, fare differences, or even a different airline. Depending on the booking, travelers pay 5-10% to make their booking flexible.

Missed Connection Rebooking (Flights) - Have you ever worried about missing a connecting flight? With weather delays, maintenance issues, or an unexpected wait at customs, the possibility of missing a connection is always top of mind. To reduce the stress of missing a connection, Hopper’s Missed Connection Rebooking option will rebook you on the next flight to your destination, no matter the airline. Missed Connection Rebooking is available on most flights that have a connection; depending on the booking, travelers pay on average $25/passenger.

Flight Delay Protection (Flights) - Don’t want to get stuck at the airport? On eligible flights, Hopper is offering Flight Delay Protection. If your flight is delayed for more than 1 hour, you will immediately receive credit to book a new flight on any airline to your destination so that you can get on your way sooner. If your flight costs $200 and your flight is delayed, you can choose to get $200 reimbursed immediately or have Hopper rebook you - 100% your choice. Depending on the booking, travelers pay an average of $15/passenger.

Considering booking a holiday trip? According to Hopper’s annual Holiday Travel Guidance report, airfare is at an all time low. Domestic airfare for Thanksgiving is down 41% to an average of $173 round-trip and airfare for Christmastime is down 40% to an average of $222 round-trip.
