We are currently witnessing the largest refugee wave in Europe since World War II. The U.N. refugee agency said recently about 660,000 people have fled Ukraine and that number is still climbing, many into bordering nations like Romania, Poland, Hungary, Moldova, and Slovakia. As people are displaced from their homes, Hopper wants to help cover the financial burden of individuals and families seeking refuge in hotels or home rentals.

Through our in-app credit system, Carrot Cash, Hopper plans to fund $50,000 USD in total to individuals who are leaving Ukraine and require temporary accommodations in neighboring countries. We’re hoping this booking credit will help ease the financial burden for hundreds of refugees. These individuals will also have access to immediate concierge-level assistance.

Both the US and Canadian governments advise citizens currently in Russia and Ukraine to leave urgently. Therefore, Hopper is also actively reaching out to all customers with pending or upcoming flight bookings out of those countries to ensure they're able to get out in a safe and timely manner.

How to get accommodations help if you’re fleeing Ukraine

If you are a refugee looking for accommodation assistance, please fill out this intake form on the Hopper website.

The booking credit will be available for individuals who have been residing in Ukraine and are seeking assistance with stays throughout Europe. Hopper will also be sending push notifications to users in affected areas to alert them of this assistance.

Once verified, Hopper will add $150 USD to each customer’s account in the form of Carrot Cash. This can be used to book a hotel or rental home directly in the app.
