Turo, the world's largest peer-to-peer car sharing marketplace, and Hopper, the innovative online travel booking platform for GenZ and millennial travelers, today announced a partnership that enables more convenience and choice for guests planning adventures. It marks the first car sharing integration for Hopper and gives their users access to Turo’s unique selection of thousands of makes and models across the United States.
In recent years, Turo has partnered with a number of travel companies like Kayak, Capital One, and Delta Airlines to create a seamless experience for travelers. These partnerships go a long way to ensure that wherever guests are considering any sort of travel options, Turo is right there. With Hopper, guests are able to book a specific car through the OTA which is something that was not possible before.
“At Turo, we want to be wherever travel decisions are taking place, and partnering with Hopper is an obvious way to achieve this goal,” said Turo’s Chief Product Officer Tom Wang. “Partnering with Hopper expands Turo’s reach, and makes booking the perfect car for any type of trip more convenient than ever before.”
In a survey conducted by Hopper this year, a notable 65 percent of respondents expressed a strong desire to book a car through car sharing platforms. This surge in interest can be attributed to several key factors including:
Skipping the Rental Counter Lines: Almost half of respondents seek to skip the line when picking up a car, making Turo's digital-only experience a more efficient option for customers. With Turo, customers have the convenience of getting a car right in their neighborhood versus having to travel to the airport or rental location.
Booking the Exact Car They Desire: 32 percent of respondents noted that they like the power of choice as they get to pick up the keys to the exact car they booked and fits their needs.
Access to a Wide Variety of Vehicles: A diverse selection of vehicles appeals to 30 percent of surveyed users, as it gives them options for any type of travel.
"We are constantly seeking new ways to enhance the travel booking experience for our customers, which is why we are thrilled to partner with Turo,” said Ani Malkani, GM for Ground Transport at Hopper. "The quality and convenience of their product aligns with our mission to create the most customer-centric marketplace for travel in the world. Turo and Hopper share a common goal of providing travelers with more choice and we are excited to see how our customers respond to this new offering."
