How would you spend an extra $200 on a trip to Seattle? How about an extra $675 on a trip to Rome with a friend or partner? For savvy travelers planning to hit the skies this year, these kinds of discounts are available for round trip airfare for two!

Travel peaks in July and August each year as school and work slow down and Americans pack up for summer vacations. As travelers head out on their vacations they aren’t focused on planning that next getaway so demand for new flight and accommodation bookings slows down at the end of summer. Travel providers around the world lower prices in an effort to stimulate more demand for bookings in September and October, the “shoulder season” between peak summer demand and the holidays.

This means that now is the best time of the year to get an amazing deal on a trip!  Travelers can expect to save around 30% on airfare by shifting travel dates from peak summer months to September and October instead. Nearly 40% of travelers looking at last minute summer trips say they would consider shifting their travel dates to fall in order to take advantage of these savings!

With temperate weather bleeding into fall in most regions of the northern hemisphere, not only will travelers see lower airfare- they can also expect less crowded airports, shorter passport control and security lines, and lower prices on some activities and accommodations!

Here’s how much you could save on if you shift your summer trip to fall:
